Bayern Munich II win third match in a row

The Amatuere make it three on the trot, winning 2-1 over Eintracht Bamberg.

After a rough start to the season, Bayern Munich II have earned three wins in a row, downing Eintracht Bamberg in a come from behind 2-1 win with goals from Gerrit Wegkamp and Bastian Fischer.

With Tobias Schweinsteiger still sidelined with a hamstring injury, Stefan Buck led out the Bayern Munich Amateure and it was not a promising start as Bamberg took the game straight to the hosts scoring in the 13th minute. From there on out it was all Bayern Munich II though as they woke up and took control of the match. Gerrit Wegkamp equalized in the 32nd minute while Bastian Fischer gave them the lead in the 68th minute when Lukas Görtler slipped the young German in on goal.

Lukas Görtler has really been an impressive addition lately for this team, both scoring and assisting in his last two games. That his return has coincided with the injury to Tobias Schweinsteiger has been an unfortunate turn of events but considering the dismantling this side went though over the summer, displaying this level of depth already is a very good sign for the season to come.

Now with 18 points on the season, they sit 5 points behind new leaders 1860 Munich II. However, Kickers Würzburg have games in hand on all the upper table Regionalliga teams, so that deficit could grow. Bayern Munich II now have a 9 day let off before they travel to face Bayernliga Süd promotees Vfr Gaching who currently sit mid table in the Regionalliga Bayern.

Bayern Munich lineup: Zingerle - Sallahi, Steinhart, Buck, Paul - Oikonomou, Basta - Jelisic (86- Ribery), Wegkamp (46. Fischer),  Weihrauch - Görtler
