In quotes that are circulating since yesterday's Paulaner photo shoot, Xherdan Shaqiri admits that he wanted to leave Bayern Munich in the transfer window, but that the club told him they weren't going to let him leave.

I would have liked to leave but Bayern told me I had to stay (here), so of course I'll stay. I wanted more playing time, and I also had some offers.

Shaqiri goes on to say that staying doesn't change anything, and he'll give his all for the club in the meantime.

It's not completely shocking that that Shaqiri wanted to leave the club for playing time, but any hopes for a move went out the window when the club decided that Julian Green wasn't ready for "prime time" and loaned him out to Hamburg. With Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery struggling with injury, it's going to be important for Shaqiri to improve on his performances from the first two Bundesliga matches.
