It was supposed to be a joyous occasion for Bayern Munich. The friendly against the MLS All Stars in Portland was a good opportunity to bring the German World Cup players along with Dante and Arjen Robben for their first friendly of the preseason. Unfortunately, it looks like it could have ended in disaster.

Schweinsteiger entered the field in the 80th minute to a huge ovation. A bad tackle from Will Johnson would end Schweinsteiger's night with an ankle injury. The midfielder would leave the field and not return for the remaining minutes.
At this point, we don't quite know what the extent of Schweinsteiger's injury is. Hopefully, it's just nothing, and he'll be back on the training field this weekend ahead of the DFL Supercup against Borussia Dortmund next week. Last season, we struggled to get a fully fit Schweinsteiger, and it'll be a shame if we go into the season with an already injured Schweinsteiger due to a ridiculous tackle in a friendly match.
All Pep said about Schweinsteiger: "He had a little problem in the ankle."

Hopefully, we'll get an update when Bayern arrive back in Munich tomorrow.
UPDATE: Bastian Schweinsteiger addressed the media, saying that his injury was just a bruise:
.@BSchweinsteiger on his ankle: "Only a bruise. I was lucky. I don't think anything happened"

The club also confirmed the injury on their own twitter page:
Update on @BSchweinsteiger: He has a bruised ankle but nothing serious. Get well soon, Basti!
