In a long ranging interview with Bild, Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer was asked about a potential contract extension. His current contract expires next summer.
I am very relaxed when it comes to this topic. I have a contract until 2015 and will go full throttle this year. It'll be entertained at some point, and we'll see what comes out of it. I can only say that I like working at Bayern Munich and feel very comfortable. If the feeling is mutual, we'll find a solution.
Bild's question indicates that they've heard Bayern is looking to hammer out a contract extension with Sammer before the end of the month. This would make a lot of sense if the club was intent on keeping Sammer at the club.
Since Sammer's hire, Bayern has won eight trophies. That is two Bundesligas, two DFB Pokals, one DFL Supercup, one UEFA Supercup, one Champions League, and one Club World Cup. This is in his first two years. That's not a bad haul.
If you'll remember back in June, Bayern added Michael Reschke, so it's hard to see the club giving up on the potential of this partnership so soon.
