Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund sell out DFL Supercup

Obviously, this was going to happen.

Sascha Steinbach

It was announced today that the 2014 DFL Supercup between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund is officially sold out with a little over three weeks to go before the match. For the second straight year, the match will take place at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, and all 80667 tickets have been claimed. Bayern received an allocation of 8000 tickets for the match.

This will be the third consecutive year that Bayern and Dortmund have faced each other for the Supercup. Bayern won the 2012 version in Munich 2-1, while BVB took the honors last season in Dortmund with a 4-2 scoreline.

Bayern and BVB have both won the DFL Supercup five times. Well, at least, they've won whatever version of the cup that is being played in that particular year. You could say that the winner of this year's Cup will have a little more bragging rights over their opponent, or do we not care enough about the Supercup yet to make it a big deal?
