Diego Contento is again being linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena. Again, the rumored move is to an Italian club.
According to Gianluca di Marzio, Diego Contento is apparently being scrutinized for a potential pickup by Inter-Milan. Previously, Contento has been linked with transfers to Napoli and Liverpool as the two main clubs but no transfer rumor has ever resolved into an actual move despite the fact that Diego Contento hasn't started regularly or been an important component of the team in over three years.
While Gianluca di Marzio has a spotty reputation as a source, he tends to hit things that make sense directly on the head. Unfortunately, this is not one of those times. Inter-Milan spent the vast majority of their season last year playing a 3-man backline and currently have an impressive left-sided wingback in Japanese international Yuto Nagatomo. It's hard to imagine Diego Contento would move away from the being the backup leftback on the best team in Germany to being the backup leftback on a Europa League team. Ultimately, I'd chalk this one up to just either idle speculation or Inter-Milan is just putting out feelers to see what the market is.
