SB Nation 2014 Champions League Preview

A year go, Bayern Munich were in the midst of one of the most dominating seasons in recent European history This weekend, unfortunately, FC Bayern players will be watching the Champions League Final from the location of their respective national teams.

It didn't work out this time, and it wasn't pretty in that final tie with Real Madrid. However, the La Liga giants are going for "La Decima". However, this trophy has proven more and more elusive for Los Merengues, as they've won it only four times in the last fifty years. We know one thing, and that capturing this historic moment over one of their bitter rivals will be well worth it.

Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, have only one made appearance in the final of Europe's greatest trophy, and that was all the way back in the 1973-74 season. This season has already been quite special for Atleti with the club winning their first La Liga title in nearly twenty years. Capping the season with the UCL trophy would cement these Atleti players as legends in Madrid.
