Jurgen Klinsmann takes Julian Green to the World Cup, leaves Landon Donovan at home

The United States has named their final squad for the World Cup, and Julian Green is heading to the World Cup.

Julian Green may have only made a three minute appearance for Bayern Munich's first team, but the 18 year old is officially heading to the World Cup. Jurgen Klinsmann announced his squad today, and the FC Bayern II winger joins the long list of Bayern players that will be representing their countries in Brazil this summer.

Green being named to the 23 man squad is somewhat surprising due to his inexperience, but most assumed he was "promised" a spot when he decided to play for the USA now instead of waiting for a potential Germany call-up. Even if he doesn't play a minute at the World Cup, the experience that Green will pick up from being at the event will be worth it for him.

The biggest shocker on the squad was the fact that Klinsmann decided against bringing Landon Donovan to Brazil. The 32 year old has clearly not been up to his regular superb form early in this MLS season, but it was assumed that he would still make the squad at least as a spark off the bench. The team is now moving forward without easily their best player of the last decade.

The Bundesliga is well represented in the squad with John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Timothy Chandler (Nürnberg), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach),  and Green (Bayern Munich) making the list. The team also features two former Bundesliga players in Michael Bradley and Jermaine Jones.

Congratulations to Julian. Hopefully, he takes advantage of this opportunity to grow as a player.
