As you're all well aware, every English paper in every little town all across the island has been constantly throwing out articles every week linking Bayern Munich's very own Mario Mandzukic with a move to Arsenal. Also, if you were unaware, some papers in Italy have been linking Juventus with a move for Juventus. Basically, the narrative in the foreign papers has been "Mario Mandzukic is unhappy with Bayern Munich signing Robert Lewandowski and wants to leave.".
At the beginning of the month, we brought you the report that neither Mandzukic nor his representatives were giving Bayern any sign at all that he was going to leave in the summer. Today, Kicker has brought us even better news from the mouth of Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
"Mario told me quite clearly in a recent conversation that he wants to stay. I'm glad this has all been resolved. Mario is a very high priority for us."
Who am I to argue with the words of Kalle? When pressed about the previously discussed contract extension, Rummenigge's words make me think the offer is already on the table.
"It hasn't happened yet, but I don't rule it out. There's no reason to leave Bayern Munich."
I'm still going to be a little worried until we hear directly from Mandzukic about staying with Bayern for next season, but all signs are pointing to the Croatian remaining in Munich for at least another season.
