Just three days after his brace against bottom-of-the-table TSV Rain am Lech, Tobias Schweinsteiger smacked four goals past SV Seligporten to lead Bayern München II to their 6-0 win on Monday.
Erik ten Hag once again paired Schweinsteiger with Kevin Friesenbichler up front and reaped the benefit for the second time in four days.
"I need to give my team a big complement," said ten Hag. "We were on full concentration from the beginning and had a lot of pace in the match. We forced too many errors for the opposition and used these consequences."
Schweinsteiger scored twice before halftime due to a mistake from Seligporten goalkeeper Dominik Brunnhübner and fantastic threaded ball from Angelos Oikonomou. David Vrzogic nailed a 20-meter free kick and a slotted slice from Benno Schmitz before Schweinsteiger slotted home two more.
Mitchell Weiser, putting in a shift for the senior side at the weekend, was not available, so Patrick Weihrauch and Vladimir Rankovic manned the right flank in his stead.
The kleine Bayern move six points away from the promotion playoff into the 3. Bundesliga with the victory. FV Illertissen play Schweinfurt on Tuesday as they try to keep pace with the reserves. The two will meet one more time on Saturday for what could be a six point swing in the Regionalliga Bayern.
