Holger Badstuber is training with a ball

Holger Badstuber took another big step in his recovering this week and started training with a ball.

It's been a very long time since we've seen Holger Badstuber on the field for Bayern Munich. It was all the way back on December 1, 2012 that Badstuber last suited up for FCB in an official match, so the following picture from his Facebook account is a welcome message.

Rejoice, Bayern supporters! Holger is finally back training with a ball at his feet!

It would've been easy for Badstuber to become very discouraged after tearing the same ACL twice in a six month span, but he never let it get him down. Here he is in an interview with FCBayern.de back in December:

No, I never had any doubts. I can't even remember going through a really bad patch. After the second tear I did say to myself: OK, everything's just been put back a bit. I was always fully convinced I'd get fully fit again. The doctors kept telling me that. So I never doubted I would make a full recovery.

With Holger's positive outlook, it's difficult to feel anything but good about his progression. While I have zero idea if we'll see him back on the field at any point this season, it'll be a good feeling to head into preseason with Badstuber, Jerome Boateng, and Dante ready to go.
