Bayern Munich will play in 2014 Telekom Cup

Bayern have booked more preseason matches this summer.

We're already well aware that Bayern Munich plan to spend part of their preseason in the United States this summer when they become the first German team to compete in the annual MLS All Star game. Now, we know that Bayern will also be participating in a more familiar preseason event as well.

Bayern announced this week that they will, once again, take part in the Telekom Cup this summer. This year's version of the mini-tournament takes on July 26 and 27 at the Imtech Arena and also features Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hamburg, and one yet-to-be-named Bundesliga opponent.

"We are delighted to once again take part in the Telekom Cup, and this year as defending champions. I'm sure the fans and spectators in Hamburg will witness first class football and exciting games."

That is what Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had to about playing in the cup. I wonder if he left off "for one of the few times this season" at the end of that quote about the fans in Hamburg seeing first class football.
