Bayern Munich sign Eintracht Bamberg striker Lukas Görtler

Bayern Munich have signed 19-year-old striker Lukas Görtler from FC Eintracht Bamberg 2010. He will join the club this summer.

Days after winning their third mach in a row, Bayern Munich  have signed 19-year-old striker Lukas Görtler from FC Eintracht Bamberg 2010 on a 2-year contract. He has appeared in 24 matches in the Regionalliga Bayern 10th placed club, registering 5 goals and 1 assist in nearly 2000 minutes. While the official BFV announcement has him listed as a striker, he has split time between playing attacking midfield and striker this season.

With the promotion playoffs and a place in the 3.Liga looking ever more like a possibility, Bayern Munich are restocking their youth team in the lead up to competing in a much more vigorous competition in the 3. Liga. The addition of Görtler represents a fundamental need to increase quality depth across the reserve squad. Most Bundesliga reserve teams are simply not good enough to maintain their positions in the 3. Liga, due to both the higher quality of the opposition and the requirements of their corresponding senior sides. For example, this season, only Dortmund II and Stuttgart II are in the 3.Liga. For teams that normally face the eternal battle for relegation every season, taking away their best players on a consistent basis is enough to spell doom for the entire squad if they don't have the depth quality to cope.
