The Bayern Munich reserves followed their negative run before the break with a positive result after, beating SV Schalding-Heining 2-0 in a make-up match on the Grünwalder Straße.
After huffing and puffing on Schalding-Heining's door during the first half, it finally blew down in the second half.
"We made it hard on ourselves in the first half because our opponent defended compact and deep," said manager Erik ten Hag to fcbayern.de. "But we prevented the peace and we rewarded ourselves with both goals."
Ylli Sallahi opened the scoring in the 48th minute, a left footed shot in the area. Alessandro Schöpf scored in stoppage time to assure the victory, his ninth goal of the season. Both players took part in two friendlies in Qatar during FC Bayern's winter break.
Considering the way that the reserves finished the Hinrunde, the victory was not the type of result that they wanted to start with. Struggling to score against a bottom of the table side is not ideal.
"We won deservedly and the approach pleased me, but surely everything was not optimal," ten Hag said.
Mitchell Weiser and Julian Green started on the flanks for the reserves, Green on the left and Weiser on the right. Kevin Friesenbichler started at the top, while Patrick Weihrauch and Vladimir Rankovic were unavailable with flu-like symptoms.
Die kleine Bayern now sit four points ahead of FV Illertissen atop the Bayern region of the Regionalliga. The reserves will take on FC Inglostadt II next Saturday, the first of twelve more games in the season before possible promotion playoffs.
