Mehdi Benatia was named 2014's Best Arab Footballer at the Global Soccer Awards Ceremony at the International Sports Conference in Dubai.
Since his move to Bayern Munich from Roma, it's been kind of start-stop for Benatia. He joined the club having not participated in any preseason training with Roma due to an injury and didn't make his debut with Bayern until the September 17th home match against Manchester City in the Champions League.
Other award winners on the night included Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez, Carlo Ancelotti, Filippo Inzaghi, and Riccardo Montolivo.
Benatia did not make the final three for the CAF African Footballer of the Year award, however. The shortlist for that award includes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Vincent Enyeama, and Yaya Toure.
