Today was a great day for FC Bayern Frauen as the club announced contract extensions for Leonie Maier and Eunice Beckmann. The two 22 year olds will remain with Bayern for the next several years.
Maier's extension will keep her in Munich through 2018. Bayern head coach Thomas Wörle said, "After suffering a cruciate ligament injury, Leonie is on her way back to her old form. I am certain that in the next three years she is going to further develop." After injuring her knee with the national team back in April, she finally returned to FCB and has featured in four matches thus far.
Beckmann made her professional debut with Duisburg at the age of 17, and five years later she's the leading scorer for second place FC Bayern. Coach Wörle on his talented Austrian, "Eunice has found her way with us and developed well. With seven goals, she's our most prolific striker."
As Bayern continue to push for a spot in next season's Champions League, securing the future of talented players like Maier and Beckmann will go a long way toward ensuring that they can challenge for that trophy.
