Bayern Munich open fan shop in Mall of Berlin as part of commercial expansion

FC Bayern continue their commercial expansion with a move into the German capital.

We've spoken in the past about Bayern Munich's plan to expand their commercial presence around the globe in order to continue to compete with the other big clubs in world football. Saturday, they took another step in the long process.

While FC Bayern was playing a match in the Olympiastadion that afternoon, in the early morning Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was in the Mall of Berlin with Claudio Pizarro and Pepe Reina for the opening of a brand new Bayern Munich fan shop. As you can see from the above video, the turnout was big, and it looked like everyone involved had a great time.

We're well aware of the office that was opened in New York City earlier this year, and the club is planning on opening on office in China in the near future.

We're likely years away (if ever) from the the Bundesliga catching up with the other leagues in television revenue, so Bayern must find the revenue in every location that they can. This is another excellent and intelligent move.
