Pep Guardiola is currently contracted with Bayern Munich through the summer of 2016. However, if FC Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge gets his way, Guardiola will remain with the club for the foreseeable future.
"He is the best coach that could have happened to Bayern Munich," Rummenigge said on Saturday. "He's a wonderful person with whom it is great fun to work with, I hope he stays with us for as long as possible."
Earlier in the summer, when asked about Guardiola's Bayern future, Rummenigge was clear in his preference, "Bayern will never dismiss Pep Guardiola. I can give you that in writing today." It's clear that nothing has changed.
However, Rummenigge knows that he can't press Guardiola on an extension at this time. "I know him, he's not the sort of person who wants to extend his contract early or values a long-term deal. I won't annoy him with it and I know when the right time will be to have that conversation. It's not something that will happen in the near future."
Guardiola was asked by the media after the club's 1-0 victory over Hertha BSC about a possible extension. "I have one more year on my contract. We have time to talk about this issue. "
So, the question must be asked, do you want the club to extend Guardiola?
