The twenty defender shortlist for the FIFA FIFPro Best 11 was released on Wednesday. As you would expect, the list was dominated your bigger club teams. Three players from Bayern Munich's double winning team received nominations.
The FC Bayern players receiving the nod were David Alaba, Jerome Boateng, and Philipp Lahm. None of this is shocking, as all three players should stand a very good chance at nabbing one of the four defender spots on the FIFPro Best 11. With this being a World Cup year, I think we can expect the German players to get an extra boost, but with this being FIFA I also wouldn't be surprised to see them throw out an all Barcelona/Real Madrid final four.
If it was up to me, I would have all three world class defenders in the Best 11.
