FC Bayern Basketball sign Bo McCalebb

The 29-year-old point guard joins the team immediately in a desperate attempt to survive the Euroleague group. The contract already expires in just one month.

With several players injured (Gavel, Taylor, Zipser...) and the fourth spot in the tricky Euroleague group in severe danger, Bayern Basketball now reacted by signing one of Europe's better point guards in Bo McCalebb. In case you haven't heard of him before, he is a 29-year-old point guard from Louisiana who now plays for the Macedonian national team.

McCalebb is currently a free agent after Fenerbahçe terminated his contract. Before that, he played his most successful years to date in Siena with Montepaschi. With the Italians, he won two domestic doubles and was the finals MVP in both years. Furthermore, the team also reached the Euroleague final four in 2011.

Also not short of individual honors, McCalebb was voted into the All-Euroleague Second Team twice and was the Euroleague's top scorer in 2012, averaging 16.9 points per game.

His biggest moments on the international stage probably took place in 2011 when he led the Macedonian team to an impressive fourth place at the Eurobasket and was a part of the team of the tournament, together with four rather well-known names: Tony Parker, Juan Carlos Navarro, Andrei Kirilenko and Pau Gasol.

Don't get too excited though, for the contract lasts only a month, after that he is free to leave again. This is a move to make it out of the Euroleague group. If they manage to get that done, McCalebb might even stay. Otherwise, it is a nice experiment.
