VIDEO: Bayern Munich II win 2-1 in Heimstetten

The kleine Bayern win their second in a row as they try to finish the fall stretch on a high

The Bayern Munich reserves kept pace with the Würzburger Kickers with a 2-1 victory against SV Heimstetten on Saturday afternoon. The victory gives them 40 points in the Regionalliga Bayern, giving the kleine Bayern 14 matches to surmount Würzburg's nine-point lead.

Gerrit Wegkamp's 26th minute goal was his 11th on the season, tying him with Eintracht Bamberg Daniel Schäffler for fifth in the Regionalliga Bayern. Wegkamp also was able to set up Steven Ribéry's goal in the 61st minute, giving Bayern II the lead they needed.

"We were dominant and we deserved to win," said manager Erik ten Hag to the club website. "The team translated the preparations well."

Bayern II will play seventh-place Buchbach next Friday, the second to last match before the fall season comes to a close.
