Xherdan Shaqiri scored this brilliant goal during Switzerland's 4-0 blowout of Lithuania. He finished the match with two goals and an "assist" on the own goal scored by a Lithuanian defender.
This, of course, led to everyone that's not a Bayern Munich fan to take to the Internet via Twitter or their newspapers/blogs to write about how Shaqiri is too good of a player to be "languishing on Bayern's bench". Perspective is missing in these comments, however. Bayern Munich is a better team than Switzerland, and most of Bayern's opponents are better than Lithuania. If Shaqiri is to get playing time with Bayern, he's going to have to earn it.
Of course, any time Shaqiri is talked about these days, it's about transfer rumors with various clubs around Europe. The latest making the rounds is that Bayern are willing to sell him this winter for €23 million, and Juventus remain the front runners to get his signature. Our friends over at Cartilage Free Captain (Tottenham) also think their club should make a strong push to get him.
The only thing that we know for sure at this point is that Shaqiri scored a nice goal for the Swiss, and he remains a Bayern player.
