Bayern Munich vs Hannover 96: Player, Man of the Match Ratings

It's a good day to be a FC Bayern player.

Lennart Preiss

Bayern Munich made light work of Hannover 96 on Saturday. After the 4-0 victory, Bayern have moved four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table. Oh, yeah, Borussia Dortmund's loss at home to Hamburg means that they're in 13th place, just three points from the foot of the table.

For Bayern, I think it will be quite difficult to decide which player you want to name as the player of the week. The team as a whole played pretty well on the day and probably should've won by a wider margin than 4-0. It was good to see the team reward themselves for their dominant play with a lot of goals.

Let's take a look at some standout performances on the day.

Arjen Robben: The Dutch winger was absolutely fantastic on the day picking up two goals in an impressive display. Year after year, we know exactly what Robben is going to do with the ball at his feet (go left), and year after year its nearly impossible for the opposition to stop him. It's great to have a healthy Robben back.

Robert Lewandowski: Duh. This is what Bayern signed Lewandowski for in the summer for €0,00. Both of his goals came from intelligent runs, going through the Hannover defense at an angle before receiving long, diagonal balls over the top from Xherdan Shaqiri and Rafinha. The best news is that Lewa is just getting started.

Xherdan Shaqiri: I mentioned on Twitter when Shaqiri was being subbed out of the match that I thought he had a pretty good game. Now, I thought his first half hour was rather forgettable, but he really turned it to an extra gear after that. Yes, he had a few errant shots, but his crosses were on point. He set Lewandowski up for a header that was just wide before launching him into space for a goal.
