Bayern Munich is having quite the run with a 4-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen. The shutout is the biggest league win of the season for the squad and solidifies their third place spot barely behind Turbine Pottsdam and WfL Wolfsburg in the Frauen-Bundesliga.
Throughout the game Bayern was in control and kept possession. The breakthrough finally came in the 37th minute with a goal by Melanie Leupolz coming off of a set piece. Bayern took this 1-0 lead into halftime.
Early in the second half the team brought in Eunice Beckmann, who scored in the cup match last Sunday. Katie Stengel started to make the lead more comfortable for Bayern with a goal set up by Beckmann in the 66th minute.
Three minutes later, Bayern sealed the game with a goal from new substitute Eunice Beckmann. In the 81st minute Beckmann scored her second goal of the game to give Bayern a 4-0 lead that would hold.
The result is no doubt a huge result for Bayern against a quality opponent. The team dominated their opponent during the second half and were clearly the better side.
With the win, Bayern remains in third place in the Frauen-Bundesliga with 11 points. They are still undefeated on the season with three wins now and two draws.
Next for the team is a home match on Sunday against MSV-Duisburg. Their opponent is currently in last place in the Frauen-Bundesliga and has zero points as well as 14 goals allowed this season. With so many games in such a short period of time, Bayern will be happy to have this home game, but must be sure to not drop points at home.
