Bayern Munich walked off the field at Borussia Park on Saturday with a combination of feelings. Sadness at the fact that they were unable to find the back of the net and continue their great form in recent weeks. Joy at the fact that they were able to leave Mönchengladbach with a point.
The match was extremely enjoyable to watch, even more for neutrals. Bayern tried to play their regular game, but a resolute effort form the Gladbach defense was their match on the day. In fact, the argument can easily be made that the hosts had the best opportunities on the day, and that FCB were lucky to leave with a point.
Here are some candidates for man of the match.
Manuel Neuer: He's probably first on all lists. Neuer had a superb game in the net for FC Bayern. With several big saves, Neuer kept Gladbach from grabbing a lead a various points of the contest.
David Alaba: The Austrian did a lot of the same great work that he's been doing in recent weeks. With Xabi Alonso held very quiet by Gladbach, it was up to Alaba to orchestrate the play along the left side of the field for most of the match.
Juan Bernat: I thought Bernat had one of his best overall matches in a FCB jersey. He kept to the left touchline and was one of Bayern's biggest threats all night long.
