The rumor was first reported by Sky Sports in Germany while Merkur and Idowa have picked picked up on the story since it initially dropped. According to reports, the former German U19 international has terminated his contract with FC Augsburg and is on his way to join Bayern Munich.
Matthias Strohmaier is an exciting centerback prospect who has made 17 appearances for FC Augsburg II in the Regionalliga Bayern where Augsburg II currently sits third with the lowest goals allowed (19) in the Regionalliga. The 19-year-old last featured for the U19 national team in 2012 when he made 3 substitute appearances. If the report is true he will be an extremely exciting signing to pair with Stefan Buck or Edwin Schwarz as the Bayern reserves compete for promotion to the 3.Liga.

Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Matthias Stromhaier on a free transfer from FC Augsburg. The 19-year-old has signed a 2 1/2 year contract with die Roten and will feature for their reserve side. Youth director Wolfgang Dremmler praised Bayern's newest CB saying "Matthias is a defensive talent, he should step up our U23. We hope that he will continue to develop with us."
