Friday's internationals --- We'll throw Brazil's friendly on Saturday in here, too. --- brought about some good performances from the Bayern Munich players on international duty.
Top Five Performances
Philipp Lahm
We start with Philipp Lahm receiving his 100th cap for Germany. The moment is just one of many shining achievements in the illustrious career of the Bayern and Germany captain. Lahm started at right back and played all 90 minutes in Bayern's 3-0 victory over Austria.
Arjen Robben
Arjen Robben scored a fantastic goal in the 2nd minute, but the Netherlands needed a stoppage time penalty from Robin Van Persie to save a 2-2 draw with Estonia. (ESTONIA!) The goal is the Dutch winger's 19th in his international career.
Thomas Müller
Thomas Müller assisted on Miroslav Klose's opening goal that pulled the forward level with Gerd Müller for Germany's goal scoring record. Thomas would then cap the night off with a goal of his own.
Mario Mandzukic
Croatia and Serbia met for only the second time since the two became independent nations. The two teams would draw 1-1, and Mario Mandzukic would score the goal for the Croatians. It's his 12th goal for his country. The point puts Croatia into the playoff round for a spot in next summer's World Cup.
Daniel Van Buyten
While he may not have been a goal scorer on the day, Daniel Van Buyten deserves your recognition all the same. The veteran centerback started and went the distance in Belgium's 2-0 victory over Scotland that almost guarantees that the Belgians will be in Brazil next summer.
Everyone Else
Three other Bayern players suited up for Germany with Manuel Neuer and Jerome Boateng contributing to the clean sheet. Toni Kroos started in the midfield and scored a fantastic goal for Germany's second. On the Austrian side, David Alaba started and went the distance in the middle of the midfield.
France settled for a disappointing 0-0 draw with Georgia in their qualifier. Franck Ribery had a few good attempts on goal, but he was unable to find the back of the net.
Claudio Pizarro played all 90 minutes for Peru in their 2-1 loss to Uruguay.
Switzerland lost a 4-1 lead over Iceland to settle for a 4-4 draw. Xherdan Shaqiri went 89 minutes and had an assist.
In Brazil's friendly on Saturday, Dante was subbed on in the 61st minute as Seleção thumped Australia 6-0.
