FC Bayern beating Rot Weiß Rehden in the first round was no surprise. so the second round draw was bound to be much tougher.

Bad news, they have to face another top-flight team, Hannover 96. Good news? They play them at home, where they have won the last six games against the northern Germany club.

The last time that Hannover 96 won the DFB Pokal was in 1992, becoming the first second tier side ever to do so.

FC Bayern has played Hannover 96 twice in the DFB Pokal, both only one goal wins. Bayern won 2-1 with goals from Hasan Salihamidzic and Roque Santa Cruz on November 11, 2002, and on February 2, 1974, Bayern secured a spot in the semifinals thanks to a Gerd Müller hat-trick in a 3-2 win.

The last time that Hannover 96 won the DFB Pokalwas in 1992, becoming the first second tier side ever to do so. Last season, 96 advanced to the Round of 16 before losing 5-1 to Borussia Dortmund.

FC Bayern own an 11-6 record when facing a Bundesliga side in the second round, so the odds are certainly on their side. Regardless, it will test the squad depth that Karl-Heinz Rummenigge worked so hard to achieve.
