Bayern Munich in Trentino: Bastian Schweinsteiger departs, Arjen Robben arrives

Bastian Schweinsteiger is departing Trentino to continue his rehab, while Arjen Robben has just arrived after an extended break.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is leaving Bayern Munich's Trentino training camp early to return to Munich. However, there's no need to be concerned. Bastian's departure is purely a precautionary measure, and he's just heading home to continue his rehabilitation. In fact, team doctor Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt and physiotherapist Gerry Hofmann will be traveling with the vice-captain.

Schweinsteiger had some minor surgery to remove a bone spur from his right heel at the conclusion of the season and has been rehabbing to get back on the field as soon as possible. The expectation is that Bastian will be ready to return to training once the club returns from Trentino.

In other good news, Arjen Robben has returned from his brief summer break after duties with the Netherlands national team. He'll finally get some chances to impress in front of Pep Guardiola in training. A lot of people were questioning how long Robben would remain a Bayern player with Guardiola in charge due to his "style" not pairing well with Guardiola's perceived "style", but he's staying at the club and will finally get the chance to prove his "worth" to Guardiola.
