Mario Götze will miss the start of the season

Mario Götze likely won't recover in time for the start of the Bundesliga season.

While Mario Götze's recovery from his hamstring injury is going according to plan, it is unlikely that he'll be back in time for the beginning of the season. While this is a let down for the large number of people excited to see Götze on the field in a Bayern shirt, it's far more important that he be given the proper amount of time to recover from this injury.

Matthias Sammer is quoted by Bild on Götze's recovery:

"Mario's right on track. He is getting excellent care from Dr Muller-Wohlfahrt and our physios. Mario is working like a true professional and is playing his part."

The €37 million transfer was injured in Borussia Dortmund's Champions League semifinal tie with Real Madrid. It is believed that Götze rushed his return to the field in an attempt to play in the Final but re-injured the hamstring in training. Of course, he still missed the final.
