Forbes released their annual list of the most valuable sports teams in the world on Monday, and Bayern Munich finds themselves in 12th place. The number one spot was occupied by Real Madrid for the first time after they overtook Manchester United. Forbes estimate's their value is $3.3 billion with a big capital "B".

Manchester United find themselves in second place, and Barcelona is in third. The New York Yankees of Major League Baseball and the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League round out the top five.

Since 2010 when Bayern were ranked 19th on this list, the club's value, as estimated by Forbes, has risen from $1.03 billion to $1.309 billion. You'll remember that earlier this year, Bayern was named the most valuable football brand in the world. While Bayern is one spot lower than they were last year, that's only due to the astronomical rise of MLB's Boston Red Sox. No other Bundesliga club made the Forbes list. The report states that Bayern's revenues are twice as high as Borussia Dortmund, the next closest Bundesliga club.

Success on the field. Success off the field. It's a great time to be a supporter of Bayern.
