6 months into his rehabilitation and seeing the light on the far side of the tunnel following a tear of his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) last December, Holger Badstuber has re-ruptured his right ACL and faces an additional surgery and an extended stay on the injury shelf.
We should expect this stay to last at least a further 6 months, placing a tentative timeline on him returning after the winter break.Given the fact that this is a re-rupture of his ACL, I'd imagine we are going to see a slower, more cautious rehabilitation and it wouldn't suprise me to not see Holger Bastuber suit up again until potentially late next season or perhaps not even until the 2014/2015 season. Here's hoping the latter as opposed to the former.
With Badstuber out until at least the winter break, and along with a full slate of games and international fixtures in preparation for World Cup 2014 at least this fall, FC Bayern Munich is going to have to bring in at least one new centerback, potentially two if Daniel Van Buyten does not renew his expiring contract, this summer.
