Well, Bayern will only have one representative in Israel this summer at the UEFA U-21 Football Championship. Emre Can has been selected by manager Rainer Adrion for the tournament on June 5-18. The Germans were drawn into a group with Spain, the Netherlands, and Russia.
If you were unaware as to how the U-21 tournament is structured, it is as follows. There are two groups of four teams, and they play a round robin group stage. The top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals, and the two winners meet in the final.
Can, 19, has yet to be capped by Germany at the U-21 level. He was the captain on the U-17 side at the 2011 World Cup in Mexico where the Germans took third place. Can scored a nice goal in in their semifinal loss to the hosts where he dribbled from midfield into the penalty area before slotting past the Mexican goalkeeper.
While he's only made six appearances for Bayern so far this season, it's clear to everyone that the young midfielder has a bright future ahead of him. Can will also be eligible for the 2015 U-21 Championship in the Czech Republic.
