Borussia Dortmund's Facebook page was the first to confirm the massive Bild story that their young midfielder Mario Götze was on his way to Bayern for the 2013-2014 season and beyond.
Bild's stated fee of 37 million Euros was also confirmed.
Götze is not breaking contract because he is simply activating a release clause, and Bayern are the ones who decided to meet those terms, meaning the player knew that and found Bayern a suitable destination.
Bayern Munich confirmed on their website that the player will join the club in July.
Following their release, Dortmund's executives urged their fans to continue supporting the player and the club moving forward as they try to qualify for the Champions League final this week and next against Real Madrid.
This makes Götze the most expensive German player of all time, another record that Bayern have raised the bar for after signing Spaniard Javi Martinez for the massive sum of 40 million Euros, which is the record for players of all nationalities.
Bayern play Barcelona in the first leg of their UCL semifinal today, while Dortmund have their match against Madrid tomorrow.
