FC Bayern München must hit the road once again in the Quarterfinals of the DFB Pokal after the defending cup champions drew Hamburger SV on Sunday, their third consecutive Bundesliga opponent this season.

The quarterfinals will take place on February 11 and 12, which is sandwiched between FC Bayern's trip to 1. FC Nürnberg and a home tilt against SC Freiburg. The other three matches are Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Borussia Dortmund, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim vs. VfL Wolfsburg, and Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs. 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

Hamburg currently sit 13th in the Bundesliga after a 0-1 home loss against FC Augsburg. Hamburg lost 9-2 in the previous meeting with the reigning treble champions.

FC Bayern and Hamburg are the only two teams in the Bundesliga never to be relegated, although Hamburg was included in the original Bundesliga 16 while the Rekordmeister was not. The two clubs have met in the German cup 10 times, with FC Bayern holding a 7 W - 1 D - 2 L record against Hamburg.

Quarterfinal matches between FC Bayern and Hamburg have taken place in Hamburg, three matches in the Volksparkstadion. The two years that FC Bayern won, it has gone on to win the DFB pokal.

The last time the two have met in cup competition was in 2005 in the round of 16. FC Bayern won 1-0 in an extra time thriller thanks to a right-footed strike from Owen Hargreaves.

To sprinkle a little more drama on the draw, the two play in Munich this coming Saturday, the last match Bundesliga match FC Bayern have before absconding to Morocco for the FIFA Club World Cup.
