Bayern Frauen put together a disappointing showing on Saturday in the Round of 16 in the 2013-14 DFB Pokal. They would eventually bow out in a 2-0 loss to FC Köln. For those of you wanting to know the league placement of Köln, they are currently in first place in the 2.Bundesliga South. Bayern's reserves are in third place.

The match was very back and forth between the two sides, and they went into halftime scoreless. As the second half continued, FC Bayern became more and more frustrated with their inability to beat their lower division opponents. Then, disaster.

In the 89th minute, midfielder Carina Wenninger was shown a straight red card, and Inka Grings converted the resulting spot kick. Then, in stoppage time, Bayern fell victim to a perfectly run counter attack from Köln, and Mandana Knopf scored to make it 2-0 for the hosts and put the Quarterfinals out of reach for FC Bayern.

Thomas Wörle's side will return to the field on November 30th in Bundesliga play when they face 11th place Duisburg in the Frauen Bundesliga.
