Bayern II smash SV Heimstetten 5-0 in first-half onslaught

FC Bayern Munich II absolutely destroyed SV Heimstetten with 5 goals in the first 36 minutes behind braces from Mitchell Weiser and Julian Green.

In was a banner day for the Bayern Munich II side as they turned the corner on the first half of the season leading by 5 points in the Regionalliga Bayern and steamed back into the Grünwald Stadion to face SV Heimstetten, a side they absolutely trounced in the first match of the season to the tune of a 6-0 scoreline.

Today was a repeat in terms of dominance as the hosts put 5 goals past SV Heimstetten in the first 36 minutes. Rolling out as close to a first team attacking midfield as this side gets, Erik ten Hag opted to go with Mitchell Weiser, Pierre-Emil Hojbjerg, Allesandro Schöpf, and Vladimir Rankovic behind the striker and newest rising star of the Bayern youth system, Julian Green. Their win opens up 8 points between them and second place FV Illertissen, and the Bayern reserves still have a game in hand.

Green, the 18 year old German-American who was just recently invited for some practice with the senior US team by Jürgen Klinsmann, scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season to lead the Bayern squad. With that hugely impressive tally and in addition averaging a goal every 73 minutes, you'd expect Green to be leading the Regionalliga in goals scored. However, that honor falls to FV Illertissen's Vitalij Lux who currently has 16 and averages a goal every 80 minutes. This has all the hallmarks of a season long battle and race to the finish for a Golden Boot award (even if in name only) and we're just over halfway to the finish line.

Mitchell Weiser, the Bayern standout who went on loan to second division Kaiserslautern last season, has been outstanding for the Bayern Munich II side as he has picked up 3 goals and 6 assists in 11 matches. In the 11 matches he has been involved in, Bayern have outscored their opponents 31:8, a whopping +23 goal differential.

They have a week off before they face Würzburger Kickers, a side they beat 4-2 back in July, and who currently sit in 9th place in the 19 team Regionalliga Bayern, next Saturday at the Grünwald Stadion.
