Four multiple-goal game, including with a hat-trick against 1. FC Schweinfürt, has made Julian Green a box office blockbuster in the Regionalliga Bayern. Now, Jürgen Klinsmann believes he is ready for a bigger stage.
According to "Bild information", Klinsmann is going to call Green into the United States Men's National Team for its upcoming friendlies. They play in Scotland on November 15 and in Austria on November 19.
David Alaba is the most recent FC Bayern player to get a senior cap for his country without appearing for Bayern Munich. He subbed in for Christian Fuchs for Austria in the 80th minute in a World Cup Qualifier against France in 2009, which is when he was consistently playing for FC Bayern II in the 3. Bundesliga.
Considering that company, a potential call-up could be a huge vote of confidence for Green, who has scored 13 goals in 14 Regionalliga games.
The United States has already qualified for the World Cup, coming out as the top team in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying. Thus, with European friendlies on the docket, Klinsmann may use Europe-based American talent. Still, calling in Green is a nice surprise, considering he has not showcased his talents at the highest level quite yet.
