Match Day Thread FC Bayern vs. Monchengladbach (Updated)

In week 1 of the Bundesliga season. As mentioned, Neuer has been nursing an illness all week, but is ready to go.

Gustavo gets the surprising start next to Bastian. Muller on the left, with Kroos sliding into the 10 spot.

With Dortmund's convincing win yesterday, Bayern needs a quick start.  Gladbach finished towards the bottom last year, but looks ready to go.  We'll update at halftime and then when the match is over, hopefully with video highlights.

1-0 to 'Gladbach.  Well, that was complete garbage.  Hardly anyone on the side earned their pay-check today.  Rafinha played well, Robben had the energy (although he needs to expand his repertoire a bit).

Other than that, this was a sorry performance.  Gomez has no touch around the goal.  Schweinsteiger disappears for long stretches.  Kroos has fallen in love with the one-touch pass, to the point where he can't seem to do anything else. Ribery was a non-factor.  No idea why Olic didn't dress - if we're going to let Petersen pass him, might as well sell Olic and give him a chance to play.

Overall, just a frustrating game to watch.  I'll be back with a complete run-down and some video highlights, such as they are, in a bit.

Here is the Gladbach goal.  Note Badstuber on the replay, standing flat-footed and pointing out instructions to the other, better players:
