Another comfortable win - the early goal put Nürnberg in an impossible position, but even so I thought they were playing very defensively. Every time Neuer took control and began to start a play, we could pass it twice and get almost to midfield before anyone tried to attack the ball.
Some other thoughts:
- Ribery not only showed class, but also had a better work rate than usual - moving all the way across the field laterally, rather than just up and down the right flank. He says he's enjoying himself a lot more this year, and so far it shows.
- Olic got on late and got to run for a bit. It's unclear whether 20 minutes a game will keep him happy, but he's a good guy to have off the bench.
- Neuer had practically nothing to do, but did make a tough save in the last 8 minutes, and also did a good job of using aggressive passes from his own area to start the attack.
- Gomez is really putting it all together. Yeah, he had two great passes to set him up today, but still - I think he's up to 13 goals in the Bundi?
Video - this one has all the goals. Thanks to Akash for the correction:
Anyone watching Villarreal - Real Madrid replay on Gol? Apparently Ozil has taken to playing with his collar "popped." I hope someone pulls him aside and talks him out of that.
