Saturday’s result turned out a little bit better for FC Bayern II, as they cruised to a 3:0 victory over Borussia Dortmund II at the Grünwalder Stadion. The result was hardly ever in doubt. Saer Sene opened the scoring in the 3rd minute on a header from a Mehmet Ekici corner. Bayern II added goals from Deniz Yilmaz and Tom Schütz (off an Alaba corner) before the half was over. Dortmund II never found an answer, and Bayern II cruised to their 6th consecutive home victory. The team can probably now be considered safe in the relegation battle, 10 points clear of the relegation zone with 7 matches remaining. The match also featured the amateur team debut of Dennis Chessa, who came on in the final minutes for Christoph Knasmüllner. Chessa, also 17, arrived in Munich a season ago from the junior system at SSV Ulm. Next up for Bayern II, a long trip north to Kiel for a match with cellar-dwellers Holstein Kiel on Tuesday.
In our video look-in on the match, the best action occurs towards the end: Alaba plays a nice one-two and cuts inside and sets up Knasmüllner, whose shot floats high over the bar.
