DFB Cup Draw

New, comments

This round Inka Grings, German Women's player of the year, handed out a pretty favorable draw for Bayern in the second round of the DFB Cup. Bayern has been matched up against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. The last time that Bayern played Oberhausen was in the 1998-1999 season in which they won 3-1. The clubs have met a total of three times in the DFB Cup and each time, Bayern has walked away victorious. The game will either be held on September 22 or 23 at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern were hoping for an easy draw for their home match and they're all feeling very optimistic about the match against Oberhausen. "The main thing you want as a player is a home tie, so we can definitely be very pleased," said Philipp Lahm who also thanked Inka Grings for participating in the draw.

And an injury update on van Bommel: He will be out for three to four weeks. He will undergo surgery on his foot on Monday. It turns out that he has ruptured some tendons and brokoen his big toe.

"It’s a real blow for me personally, especially as it’s all started so well," commented Van Bommel, who will undergo surgery on Monday. The 32-year-old responded to the injury with a typically fighting reaction. "I’ll be back as soon as I can, and I’ll pick it all up where I’ve left off."

So I'm sure a lot of you will be very happy by that, but I am very disappointed. And I don't care what you think of him, how you feel about him or whether or not you think he's a good player or not. There is no need for hateful comments about any player on the team. We're all here for one reason and one reason only - to support the team. While we may not always be happy with the coaches choices (my case in point - my disgust with Lell and Lucio last season), but they are the coaches choices and since none of us are with the team on a daily basis and none of us have coach capabilities, we have to venture a guess that the coach knows what's best for the team - no matter how disappointed we might be with those choices. The bottom line is, this is meant to be a site for supporting Bayern. Not a place for hate.
