Deal with Lahm falls through

Bayern have announced that they were unable to seal a deal with Philipp Lahm and have since withdrawn their initial offer. Bayern could not reach an agreement with Lahm and he announced today that he would like to go abroad.

"My plan is to leave Bayern before I’m past my peak," Lahm said in an interview with Stern magazine.

"I played for two years at Stuttgart and I’m in my third year at Bayern, the biggest German club. The logical next step is to go abroad."

Bayern will likely look to sell him at the end of this season instead of letting him go as a free transfer at the end of his contract which expires next season. Rumor has it that Barcelona is interested and Lahm says it's a possibility.
