Another of my favorites... hopefully he will stay as well. My team is falling apart on me.
Bayern Munich defender Daniel van Buyten has emerged as a possible transfer window target for Everton, setantasports.com can exclusively reveal.
The Belgian centre back is the type of experienced cover that Toffees boss David Moyes would like to bring to Goodison Park to help fill the void left by Joseph Yobo’s participation in the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
Van Buyten’s agent Christophe Henrotay told setantasports.com that Moyes realises the 29-year-old would be an ideal loan option but was quick to stress that there has been no contact with Bayern and talk of any possible deal is a long way off.
"I know David Moyes very well, he’s a friend of mine and I know he’s looking for a centre back," Henrotay told setantasports.com.
"Daniel is corresponding to the sort of player he’s looking for - an experienced, quality player to cover Joseph Yobo when he goes to the African Cup of Nations.
"We talk about it but, today, I’m not about to go to Everton with Daniel.
"Yes, it’s an idea and Daniel has not played so much at the beginning of the season as is the choice of the coach Ottmar Hitzfeld at Bayern.
"It’s a normal idea coming up from David. He knows me and knows Daniel and feels if we could have him for a while on loan it could be great but, today, I haven’t talked with Daniel about it and never with Bayern about it.
"It is a long way off but it’s a real idea. It’s no secret David would like to cover Yobo as he’s going off to Africa.
"It’s a great idea but there would be a long way to go yet."
Everton continue to impress in The Premier League and have progressed in the Carling Cup and Uefa Cup as Moyes has built an excellent side at Goodison.
