On Thrusday, Bayern will take another step in their UEFA Cup campaign in their first round against Beleneses Lissabon. This match for them is a home game at the Allianz Arena. This is one that they will have to be strong on their attacking. With Toni's status uncertain, one has to wonder if Podolski will get his chance to shine. We all know that Hitzfeld isn't afraid to give Poldi his chance. He's been brilliant alongside of Miroslav Klose for the German National Team and now that he is fighting for a position within Bayern's ranks, it's likely that we will see the days of Poldi's competitive streak come back. Remember the brilliant form he had during the World Cup? A little pressure and the need to fight for his spot seem to bring out the best in Poldi. Last year, he didn't have a great year at Bayern by any standards, but given the opportunity he could find his form and become the player that Magath was easy to give up on, but the one that Hitzfeld has always believed in.
I say bring it on. Push him, challenge him, put him in the starting line and give our young Prince Poldi a chance to prove his worth. He's gone through his rough patch, his time has come and he's due. Bayern have to put their best effort forward, attack hard and under no circumstance should they concede any goals. If we can pull off a win without any conceded goals, the second leg will be a much easier task than if we concede goals at home.
