It seems like it has bee forever since we've seen a healthy Bastian Schweinsteiger on the field regularly for FC Bayern. According to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, it looks like we're going to be waiting a little longer. After the match with Manchester City, the Bayern CEO spoke to the media and dropped the following nugget of information, "Ribery will return sooner than Bastian. He's only not beginning the training process."
Schweinsteiger's last competitive match was his warrior-like performance in Germany's World Cup Final victory over Argentina. He made an appearance in the MLS All Star Game friendly in Portland in August but hasn't been seen since. H had been suffering from patellar tendonitis for some time, and the club is allowing him to make a full recovery before thrusting him back on the field.
As for Ribery, Rummenigge says they expect him back in the next week or two. Ribery did make his return last weekend against Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, but he began to have more pain in his knee and needed an additional break.
Thankfully, the club has made great buys in the transfer market over the last few windows to add depth that the two players can recover properly.
