Rafinha was considered the one who was happy to smile on the bench as he saw his peers swoop all titles in 2012-13. He was a fiercely loyal squad member, too.

Pep Guardiola, having switched Lahm to midfield, decided to field Rafinha as the right back. Not many thought this move would work in Bayern's favor, especially in light of Rafinha's habit to completely forget about defense and charge ahead. He has done that a few times this season but has largely surprised everyone. He has put in decent performances in almost every game in which he has featured for Bayern this season.

Rafinha is well liked by his coach and his peers. However, he has not quite left his on-pitch disciplinary issues behind at Schalke and Genoa. He received a lengthy ban following a red card against Dortmund and consequently missed the final few games of the Bundesliga campaign. Whether Guardiola continues to feature him is a question few have asked with regards to next season. This might be because his performances have not been highly dissatisfying.
Bundesliga & Champions League
If he does continue to start next season, Rafinha has a few things he could add to his game. The first would obviously be discipline. He also needs to achieve a balance between defense and attack. In games against quality opposition, he should leave the attacking responsibilities to Bayern's plethora of attackers.
