In a massive coup, FC Bayern Frauen have signed 28-year-old German international Melanie Behringer from FFC Frankfurt who will join the women's side starting in summer of 2014 on a three year contract. She brings an impressive national and international pedigree to an otherwise young Bayern Frauen squad. Head coach Thomas Wörle is excited for addition of Behringer, noting she brings an impressive amount of experience and consistency along with a down-to-earth demeanor. Along with director Karin Daner, they feel she brings a great deal of experience
The 95-time-capped German international attacking midfielder came up through the Freiburg youth system before joining Bayern Munich Frauen in summer 2008. In her first spell with the club, she logged nearly 1300 minutes over 2 seasons, registering 6 goals and 1 assist before transferring to FFC Frankfurt in the summer of 2010. In three years at the Hesse-based club, she registered 15 goals and 10 assists in almost 9000 minutes of playing time, winning the Women's Pokal in 2010. This season, she's further plugging her pedigree to the tune of 3 goals and 8 assists in just 1380 minutes for Frankfurt as they push Turbine Potsdam for the Frauen Bundesliga championship.
Behringer is a two-time European Championship winner, and one-time World Cup winner with the German national team.
