Apparently, Arjen Robben is so confident in his starting role that he hasn't even thought it might be a possibility that he gets ousted from his starting role. Below is a quote taken from goal.com.

"Can I imagine myself ending up on the bench? No, of course not. And it won't be happening," Robben was quoted as saying by Kicker.

"I have not even thought about such a scenario. I know what I'm capable of and I don't have any fear that I might lose my starting berth.

"However, nobody is a guaranteed starter. We all have to work and fight for our place."

At least he acknowledges that everyone has to work and fight for their spot in the starting line up, but I cannot believe that he hasn't even considered the possibility that he might lose his starting spot. It kind of makes me shake my head and laugh at him (in an amused way, not an insulting way). I cannot imagine seeing a signing for someone who plays your spot and not be worried at all that they might actually take your spot... especially after the season that he has had.

Best of luck to them all. My hope is that the added competition for that spot will make them all better and that whoever plays the spot is the player who deserves it, not just the one who has the history.
